The Blended Online MHFA Community Course is adapted from the Standard Mental Health First Aid Course for adults and teaches participants how to assist a friend, family member, or other members of the community who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis.

Sessions Dates & Times

This is the **NEW** online program developed by MHFA due to Covid-19 to support community and organisations. The Online E-learning comprises of 2 sessions Part A and Part B from 9:00am to 11:30am. Tuesday 13th October and Thursday 15th October. The training is divided into 3 Components: •Step 1 - Online self-directed course (takes approx 4-8 hours). Must be completed before face to face sessions on Zoom; •Step 2 - Module 1 is 2.5 Hours Zoom session •Step 3 - Module 2 is 2.5 Hours Zoom session

The instructor training has been subsidised by the Wanneroo and Communities Suicide Prevention Network saving participants up to $165 per participant and it's open to all residents.

Please note the Second Component online webinar MUST be completed with our Network Facilitator.

This internationally recognised course was developed at the Centre for Mental Health Research at the Australian National University and is now delivered across 20 countries globally.

Content covered includes;

• Understanding mental health, including diagnoses, prevalence and common misconceptions

• Symptoms and causes of depression, anxiety, psychosis and substance misuse. • How to provide initial support to adults who maybe experiencing a mental health crisis.

• Crisis First Aid for: suicidal behaviour, panic attacks, aggressive behaviour, self harm, acute psychosis.

• Responding to the effects of Traumatic events and drug and alcohol misuse.
