The Blended Online MHFA Tertiary course is delivered in two parts: 1) Online eLearning modules completed prior to the Zoom sessions through the Mental Health First Aid Australia website, at a cost of $55, payable direct to MHFA Australia 2) Two Zoom workshops, facilitated by Rick, at the times listed above (at a cost of $115 paid directly to the instructor)

ABOUT THE COURSE: The Blended Online MHFA Tertiary course teaches tertiary students how to assist people who have a developing mental health problem or are experiencing a mental health crisis. Course content is tailored to the student setting using case-studies, videos and resources tailored to their learning needs. This course has been adapted from the standard course and, therefore, participants complete an online Accreditation Assessment to receive a full Mental Health First Aider Certificate of Accreditation (valid for 3 years). Topics covered include: depression, anxiety, eating disorders, psychosis and substance abuse.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Rick Handrickan is both a qualified educator and registered counsellor. His formal training includes a Master of Applied Social Science (Counselling), a Graduate Diploma of Mental Health Practice and a Bachelor of Education (Secondary). Rick started his career as an educator in the public school system in South Australia before becoming a fully qualified counsellor registered with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA). Rick’s experience as a mental health counsellor is varied. His roles have included: Counselling Team Leader at Ayers Rock Resort (N.T.), Student Counsellor on the Gold Coast (QLD), and Counsellor / Educational Consultant in Memphis, Tennessee (U.S.A.). Rick currently holds the position of Mental Health Counsellor and Educator with Mental Health and Counselling Partnerships (MHCP).
