The Youth Mental Health First Aid course is for adults working or living with adolescents (those aged between 12 and 18 years), however, the course can be relevant for those helping people who are a little younger or older. This course is particularly suitable for parents, school staff, sports coaches, and youth workers.

You will learn how to assist an adult who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves, using a practical, evidence-based action plan. This course is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals.

Anthony is an experienced Youth & Family Psychologist and Youth MHFA facilitator.

Anthony's significant training experienced is noted in his current appointment as a lecturer at the University of Melbourne, and professional consultancy spanning education, community, and government sectors.

Anthony works closely with groups to identify interest topics beyond the scope of the program, and incorporates this information as a tailored addition to the course selected.

Anthony trains with humour and passion, providing an engaging facilitation style that creates memorable and fun training experiences.

Anthony Hurst is the Director and Principal Psychologist of a private practice and consulting business, Systemic Psychology. He works therapeutically with individuals, families and couples, and consults with and trains a range of teams and organisations. Anthony has also been involved in the teaching of counselling and psychology at a tertiary level for a number of years, currently as a Lecturer at the University of Melbourne.

Anthony also serves as the Treasurer and Director for the EMDR Association of Australia, which oversees the delivery of trauma focussed therapy Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy Australia wide.

Anthony has undertaken a number of qualifications, as follows:
