The Mental Health First Aider certification requires 12 hours in total. made up of 2 components as described below.
Complete your online learning modules and assessment.
This course will require your Zoom attendance between 11:30AM -2PM for 2 days /2.5 hours each day. This in the instructor led component.
Your facilitator: Gina Ingrouille has worked in health and human services for 30 years. She has developed programs for drug and alcohol, disability, aged care and peer support services. Gina has academic credentials and 24 years of lived experience which she brings to the MHFA training experience. This means attendees will receive a 360 degree perspective. Certification requires 12 hours in total. Participants are required to complete both course components of a Blended MHFA Course to be eligible to complete our Accreditation Assessment.
As a First Aider, you will be able to:
* Understand the important factors affecting mental health
* Identify the signs and symptoms for a range of mental health problems
* Use the ALGEE Action Plan to provide Mental Health First Aid to someone experiencing a mental health problem or crisis
* Listen non-judgementally and hold supportive conversations about mental health problems
* Guide a person towards seeking appropriate professional help and other supports, as your role as a Mental Health First Aider does not replace the need for ongoing support
* Support a mentally healthy workplace and understand how Mental Health First Aid fits in the workplace.
