This course is open to members of the public and will run over three consecutive weeks on
the following Sundays:
August 7 (9am-12:30pm)
August 14 (9am-12:30pm)
August 21 (9am-12:30pm)
WHAT THE COURSE COVERS:
Youth MHFA is an education course that teaches adults about adolescent development and the signs and symptoms of common and disabling mental health problems in young people, including crisis situations.
Topics covered include:
suicidal thoughts and behaviours.
You will learn how and where to get help when a young person is developing a mental illness, what help research has shown to be effective and how to provide first aid in crisis situations.
Evaluations consistently show that MHFA training:
•improves a participant’s knowledge of mental illnesses,
•improves appropriate first aid strategies,
•improves confidence in providing first aid to individuals with mental illness,
•increases help seeking behaviours,
Component 1: Self-paced eLearning modules (approx. 4 hours) Please note it is a requirement by MHFA Australia that you MUST complete component 1 before you can attend the live video-conferencing sessions.
Component 2: Three x 2.5-hour video-conferencing sessions via ZOOM led by Belinda.
Total cost including GST: $360
•A personalised e-voucher code to complete component 1,
•All video-conferencing sessions to complete component 2,
•A Youth MHFA hard copy manual.
