Bio

AJ Williams is a highly engaging presenter with over 25 years experience in training, facilitation & mentoring.
He is a Principal MHFA Master Instructor who as of August 2021, has delivered over 570 courses nationally.

AJ is an Aboriginal man of Wiradjuri / Wotjobulak background.
He is a qualified Nurse (maternal health & mental health), AASW Mental Health accredited Social Worker, Youth Worker (mentoring & suicide prevention), External Mentor, Career Educator & Cultural Consultant.
He has 33 years experience in the health, community services and education sectors primarily within Victoria and NSW, but has worked in all states and territories.

As a member of the Stolen Generations, and a person who has lived experience of mental health, he is always happy to share his knowledge & experiences.

From 2010-2016- AJ worked within the National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Mental Health First Aid program as the AMHFA Program Manager across the 3 organisations in which it was housed (University of Newcastle, Orygen Youth Health & Metal Health Fist Aid Australia). In this time he trained over 200 New AMHFA Instructors.

As of August 2021, AJ has has delivered 570 workshops in such diverse places from corporate settings, community health organisations, Aboriginal health services & gathering places, local sporting clubs, government settings (local, state and federal), rural & remote communities, as well as refuges & prisons.

In 2012, AJ won the NSW Mental Health Matters Award for 'Indigenous social and emotional wellbeing', was a finalist in the 2013 SUICIDE PREVENTION AWARDS and was awarded EMERGING VICTORIAN INDIGENOUS LEADER AWARD for 2016.
