AJ is of Wiradjuri / Wotjobulak background. He has 30 years experience in the health, community services and education sectors within Victoria and NSW.

He is a member of the Stolen Generations, and has had lived experience of mental health. He is always happy to share his knowledge & experiences.

AJ is accredited to deliver: - STANDARD ADULT Edition 4 - YOUTH Edition 4 - TEEN Year 7-9 & TEEN 10-12 - Intellectual Disability and - ABORIGINAL & TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER Edition 3.1 courses. AJ can also deliver all Blended courses, as well as the tailored courses for nursing and medical student, tertiary settings & for Pharmacy.
As of 2019, AJ delivers: - MHFA for the Suicidal Person - MHFA for Gambling Problems, as well as the Aboriginal courses in Lets talk about Gambling, Lets talk about Suicide and Lets talk about NSSI.

AJ can also deliver the 5hour STANDARD & YOUTH & ABORIGINAL MHFA REFRESHER courses.

As of 2020 - AJ can deliver the NEW COVID Blended Community courses via VIRTUAL platforms.

AJ has qualifications in social work, nursing, career counselling, disability work, community work & mental health, youth work, AOD and Aboriginal primary health care, with an interest in Aboriginal mental health. He is a qualified AASW Mental Health Social Worker and registered Medicare provider.

From 2010-2016- AJ worked within the National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Mental Health First Aid program as the AMHFA Program Manager across the 3 organisations in which it was housed (University of Newcastle, Orygen Youth Health & Metal Health Fist Aid Australia). In this time he trained over 200 New AMHFA Instructors.

As of August 2020, AJ has facilitated over 510 MHFA courses across all states and territories of Australia. He has delivered in corporate settings, community health organisations, Aboriginal health services & gathering places, local sporting clubs, government settings (local, state and federal), and with other private groups.

In 2012, AJ won the NSW Mental Health Matters Award for 'Indigenous social and emotional wellbeing', was a finalist in the 2013 SUICIDE PREVENTION AWARDS and was awarded the EMERGING VICTORIAN INDIGENOUS LEADER AWARD for 2016. In 2019, AJ was awarded the Frankston Mornington NAIDOC Community Award.

AJ is able to travel Australia wide provided costs are met. All trainings gain traditional owner endorsement.
