Bio

I'm a 55 year old Nyoongar/Beeliar/Wilman/Ballardong Bibbulum Yok from Narrogin Western Australia. I have worked forty years throughout the Perth Metropolitan caring for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. I have an Association Degree Specializing in Aboriginal Mental Health and Social & Emotional Well-being Counselling and have been working in Mental Health for 26 years, providing trauma, grief and loss intense therapeutic counselling to families and communities from an aftermath of suicides. Provide Cultural Education Training "Our Ways" Best Practice Working with Aboriginal individuals, families and communities. I have been delivering the AMHFA for 11 years to communities of those affected through suicide, regional communities, to service providers of the Alcohol & Drug Sectors, Custodial and Non-custodial Officers from Acacia Prison, Derbarl Yerrigan Health Service Staff, Nyoongar Outreach (Patrol) - Perth, Southern Aboriginal Corporation, Bunbury Aboriginal Mental Health and Clontarf Education Workers. I have always been passionate about Aboriginal Health and Mental Health Well-being as I have been an advocate on community AOD and Mental Health Reference Groups. In 2017 I was nominated as a Mental Health Ambassador throughout the Perth Metropolitan Area, providing mentoring and speaking with Youth at the Banksia Hill Detention Centre about Mental Health and Coping Skills. I'm the Manager/Director of Kickett Consulting - Mental Health and Social & Emotional Wellbeing www.kickettconsulting.com.au I continue to strive towards educating Aboriginal and Non Aboriginal about the understanding of Mental Health through the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mental Health First Aid, providing them with the AMHFA tools to support those who are Mentally unwell.
