Dr Teresa O'Brien is a highly engaging, interactive and effective trainer who has an extensive background in education, and public relations. She is an advanced facilitator, holding Masters and Doctoral degrees in Education. She has a wealth of experience working in diverse social and cultural contexts, and with individuals across various educational and industrial organisations. Her MHFA workshops are as relevant to students as they are for teachers, communities, employers and workplaces.
She is especially passionate about rural communities. She undertook her Mental Health First Aid Training to ensure that rural Australians are educated and informed about mental health in order to minimise the stigma and myths that are often associated with mental health. Her role as Principal Lecturer at a large state training provider attests to her knowledge of the public sector and the importance of mental health wellness in such complex workplaces. Teresa also holds a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment as well as a Diploma in Vocational Education and Training. She possesses an unusually deep understanding, empathy and compassion for people experiencing mental illness or those who have been affected by mental illness. These are her powerful attributes, and as such, inform her workshops. Dr O'Brien lives in the wheatbelt region of Western Australia. She is prepared to travel where necessary.
