Peta is a Master Instructor of courses and works part time with Mental Health First Aid Australia as an Instructor Development Advisor. In this role, Peta enjoys being able to support instructors to maintain their accreditation as well as to contribute to their professional development and learning as instructors. She is an experienced and skilled facilitator who creates a fun, engaging and interactive learning environment.

Peta has been a regular guest presenter on ABC Radio, has shared her lived experience with national media and is an active media spokesperson for a variety of organisations appearing on the likes of The Feed and The Project. Peta has also written pieces for national publications on the topics of mental health and suicide prevention.

Peta regularly presents at national mental health and suicide prevention conferences and has contributed to the development of suicide prevention projects and initiatives with the Black Dog Institute and Everymind in Newcastle, NSW. She also works as a consultant and trainer with workplaces and organisations to assist them to develop better individual and team workplace wellbeing strategies as well as improving their communication skills and workplace self-care initiatives. Peta is currently working on a project with the Queensland Mental Health Commission to encourage individuals to engage with mental health and alcohol and other drugs services. In addition to her roles as an Instructor and as an Advisor with MHFA Australia, Peta also assists Roses in the Ocean (a Brisbane based national suicide prevention lived experience organisation) by supporting participants in their preparation to attend courses throughout Australia.

As a former high school teacher, she decided to become a Mental Health First Aid instructor to share vital knowledge and skills that anyone in the community can learn and use to help someone experiencing a mental health problem. Peta believes the course is useful for everyone as it reinforces that we all have a role to play in the mental health of others in our communities and workplaces.

If you join Peta on one of her courses expect to feel valued, supported and to have a good laugh. All her two day courses include a proper sit down lunch to ensure that you are well fed and get the chance to get to know your fellow course participants.
