I am motivated to facilitate Mental Health First Aid training because of my own personal experience with suicide bereavement and trauma. I believe that education about mental health enables people to develop the life skills and understanding that can support them to have meaningful conversations with their family, friends and colleagues and thereby reduce stigma, provide support and potentially save lives. I have a Bachelor of Applied Social Science (Counselling), work privately as a Counsellor, am an instructor in Mental Health First Aid, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, safeTALK and Lifeline’s DV-alert and Accidental Counsellor training. I have also facilitated suicide bereavement support groups and was Training Manager at Lifeline Northern Beaches. I have guest lectured at the University of Notre Dame Sydney, given talks on suicide awareness and facilitated training workshops over the last ten years to a range of organisations and institutions. As a facilitator I aim to work with integrity, dedication, honesty, care and compassion. Please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss the framework and relevance of any element of the MHFA training for yourself, your community or your organisation.
