I am currently a Deputy Principal - Inclusion working in a High School for Education Queensland supporting students with disability, learning difficulties, LGBTIQ, Children in Care, Refugees, English as a Second Language and Indigenous. I manage the student services team including three full time Guidance Officers, one part time Guidance Officer, School Based Health Nurse, Youth Support Co-Coordinator and School Chaplain. I have a Bachelor of Education and a Master of Education (Guidance and Counselling), I worked for five years as a School Counsellor for Brisbane Catholic Education and moved to Education Queensland in 2008 where I continued as a Guidance Officer Intensive Behaviour Support, supporting students with challenging behaviour and mental health disorders. I continued as a Senior Guidance Officer in South West Queensland and moved back to Brisbane as a Deputy Principal - Inclusion in 2013.
I believe education in Mental Health First Aid is critical to break down the barriers/stigma surrounding Mental Health in our communities. I am delighted to be able to facilitate Youth Mental Health First Aid and encourage you to attend a course. Please do not hesitate to contact me.
