Laura has been an accredited Standard MHFA instructor for 4 years, providing training predominantly within universities to improve awareness and support for students experiencing mental illness. Laura worked in the university sector for 20 years as a counsellor and disability advisor, providing personal and educational counselling services to staff and students as well as support to enhance accessibility for students with a disability, including those experiencing mental illness. Laura has a firm belief in the importance of education in developing a more inclusive and supportive community and believes that everyone has a part to play in enhancing our response to mental health issues. Laura is a qualified social worker with degrees in psychology and social work, and a graduate certificate of higher education. She has been recognised for her work supporting learning with a USQ Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning and induction into the USQ Teaching Academy. Laura is currently engaged as the A/Program Manager at the Queensland Centre for Mental Health Learning (Learning Centre), West Moreton Hospital and Health Service, Queensland Health.
