Am I eligible to enrol in a Refresher course?

You are eligible for a Refresher course if you have completed a full MHFA course and accreditation assessment, within the last 3 years.

You will need to provide a copy of your Certificate of Accreditation to the Instructor prior to the training. You can access a copy via your Mental Health First Aid Account.

Participants who have last attended a Refresher Course will need to attend a full course as per our accreditation pathway.

If you are unsure, please contact us mhfa@mhfa.com.au or (03) 9079 0200.

What if I attended an MHFA course but did not complete the assessment?

You can access the accreditation assessment for your course up to 3 years after completion. If you are still within this timeframe, email mhfa@mhfa.com.au to request a unique link to complete the assessment. The accreditation will expire 3 years after the course completion.

I attended a Refresher Course but have been advised that I am ineligible to re-accredit. What can I do?

Confirming eligibility to re-accredit is the responsibility of the individual, not the Instructor running the Refresher course. To receive a Certificate of Accreditation, you will need to attend a 2-day face-to-face or Blended course.

Which Refresher course should I complete?

You should choose the same MHFA Refresher course as the original course you completed.

The Standard Refresher course is available to current and accredited MHFAiders who completed the following courses:

  • Standard MHFA
  • Older Person MHFA
  • Blended/Online Community or Workplace
  • Financial Services, Legal Professionals or Pharmacy MHFA
  • Tertiary

I have already completed a Refresher course. Can I complete another Refresher Course?

3 years after completing a Refresher Course, MHFAiders will need to attend a full 12 or 14-hour MHFA course in order to maintain their accreditation.
